The Other Queen – Philippa Gregory

The Other Queen revolves around the story of Mary Queen of Scots during her time of imprisonment at the home of George Talbot & Bess Hardwicke. Initially mary expects to be returned to her rightful throne in Scotland, but as she gets further involved in escape attempts and alleged plots against Elizabeth, it becomes clear that she is a prisoner. During this time she turns the heart of her captor George Talbot, weakening his allegiance to Elizabeth, and brings him to financial ruin through her demands that the house be run as a royal court.
